The Playoffs are here! On April 28, 2025, NBC dropped Episode 12 of The Voice Season 27, and things got intense.
This week, it was Team Kelsea Ballerini and Team Adam Levine battling it out. Each coach had five team members — but by the end of the night, they had to cut it down to just two. These lucky two from each team move forward to the Live Shows, where the competition gets even fiercer.
Plus, mentors Sheryl Crow (for Team Kelsea) and LeAnn Rimes (for Team Adam) jumped in to help coach the contestants behind the scenes.
Who Were Team Kelsea’s Performers?
Team Kelsea had a solid group:

But in the end, only two could survive.
How Did Iris Herrera Make an Impression?
Iris Herrera stole the show with her performance of “White Horse” by Chris Stapleton.
Rocking a gothic-punk look, she matched her style perfectly with a huge, powerful voice. Even mentor Sheryl Crow couldn’t believe the sound coming out of the 19-year-old singer.
Kelsea, who’s built a career mixing country and pop herself (and now boasts an estimated net worth of $12 million), praised Iris for finally embracing her authentic style.
“You just did everything that makes you you, the best you’ve ever done,” Kelsea said.
Fun fact: Iris tried out last season too but didn’t even get a chair turn. This time, by staying true to herself, she’s headed to the Top 8!
What About Alanna Lynise?
Alanna Lynise earned the second spot on Team Kelsea’s Live roster with her emotional cover of “Nobody Gets Me” by SZA.
Kelsea appreciated how much Alanna worked on polishing her vocals during rehearsals. And it paid off — her performance was heartfelt and powerful enough to secure a ticket to the next round.

Now onto Team Adam, where the competition was just as fierce:

How Did Lucia Flores Wiseman Win a Spot?
Lucia Flores Wiseman delivered a stunning rendition of “In My Life” that even impressed Coach John Legend.
John predicted that Lucia has a future career ahead thanks to her natural gift. Adam, with a personal net worth of around $160 million from his music career and coaching gig, clearly recognized the star quality too and chose her for the Live shows.
What Made Kolby Cordell Shine?
Kolby Cordell turned up the energy with a fun, flirty version of “Finesse” by Bruno Mars.
Mentor LeAnn Rimes gave him a clever tip: “Flirt with your voice.” It worked — Kolby’s playful style had the coaches buzzing. In fact, Coach Michael even predicted that Kolby could win the whole season.
With a magnetic stage presence and killer vocal runs, Kolby secured the second Live spot from Team Adam.
What’s Next on The Voice Season 27?
Now that the Playoffs have started, things are only going to get crazier.
By the end of the Playoff rounds, only eight contestants total will move on to the Live Shows, and soon after that, it’s all about crowning the winner.
With Iris, Alanna, Lucia, and Kolby moving forward this week, the race is seriously heating up.
