Rosie O’Donnell is turning heads again, not for a joke or a new role, but for something more personal. The 63-year-old comedian and former talk show host has been on a steady and honest weight loss journey. She recently shared a photo on May 23, showing off her slimmer figure. And in her own words, “I can’t believe this is me now.”
Over the past two years, Rosie has been using Mounjaro, a prescription medication designed to help manage diabetes. But along with managing her health, the medicine has helped her lose weight in a slow, steady way. Rosie told Page Six that she’s been on the medication for three years. She started with the lowest dose and increased it gradually. She explained that she loses about one to two pounds every month.
For Rosie, the results are not just on the outside. She said she no longer feels “afraid” when she sees her reflection in the mirror. In her past, being smaller made her feel vulnerable. Now, putting on a belt because her pants are falling down feels like a big moment of growth and pride.
She Changed Her Diet and Lifestyle Too
Rosie first opened up about taking Mounjaro in January 2023. She also made other big changes. She cut out all sugary drinks and started drinking only water. That meant saying goodbye to the five or six Diet Cokes she used to have every day. She also started avoiding sugar as much as possible.
In a TikTok video from March, Rosie shared more about her current life. She had moved to Ireland with her child Clay. She said the weight kept coming off because her lifestyle was simpler. She no longer had a chef. She cooked meals herself for both her and Clay. That daily change added to her results.
Her 2013 Surgery Laid the Foundation
Rosie’s journey also includes a major step she took years earlier. In 2013, she had vertical gastric sleeve surgery. At her highest, she weighed 240 pounds. After surgery, she lost 176 pounds. She told PEOPLE that the surgery changed her life. It reduced her hunger and helped her build a new relationship with food.
Rosie recalled how tough holidays used to be. Halloween and Christmas were stressful. She would crave candy and often couldn’t stop herself from eating it. Now, she says that has changed. She had only one lollipop last Halloween and felt no desire for more.
Today, Rosie says she feels free. She sleeps better, moves more, and even shops for clothes with confidence. She recently said how shocked she was to buy a size large instead of XL or XXL. For years, she only wore elastic pants. Now, she can walk into a boutique in Dublin and feel comfortable trying on new outfits.
Not everyone online has been supportive, but Rosie doesn’t seem to mind. She’s focused on feeling better, living healthy, and enjoying life with her children.
Her journey is proof that weight loss doesn’t need to be fast to be real. It just needs to be honest, steady, and full of self-care.
